North Idaho College’s Recreational Sports program kicked off another school year with a full schedule of fall activities.

This year there are two separate divisions: league and tournament play.

The league sports are deadline sensitive so anyone interested in signing up must submit their forms to the Rec. Sports’ office in the SUB.

Co-Rec. sports include flag football, indoor soccer, volleyball and 3-on-3 basketball.

There are also a men’s and women’s division for the 3-on-3 basketball.

The ultimate Frisbee deadline has past but students can watch these games at McEuen field every Tuesday and Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m.

Tournament play consists of one-day events in various different sports. There is a kickball tournament Sept. 21, singles pool on Oct. 4, doubles pool on Oct. 8, singles table tennis Nov. 2, doubles table tennis Oct. 26 and shuffleboard on Nov. 8.

Special events that are also worth mentioning include Turkey Bowling on Nov. 17, Monday Night Football starting Sept. 12 in the basement of the SUB, and Paintball on Oct. 28, which requires registration in order to participate.

Most sports are free for NIC students. Paintball will have fees dues prior to tournament play. The cost has yet to be announced.

Organizing the rec. sports activities belongs to recreational league coordinator Jessica Johanson. She has held the position for two of the four years she has been here at NIC.

“There is definitely a place for everyone in the rec. leagues,” Johanson said.

If you have any questions, she can be contacted by either her office phone number at (208) 769-3299, her e-mail address at jessica-johanson@nic.edu, by stopping at her office which is located in the lower level of the SUB room 016 or by friending the NIC Rec. Sports on Facebook.
