Georgia Stirton scored 14 points and had four assists to lead the second-ranked Lady Cardinals past the Lady Spartans of Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) 87-53 in a Scenic West Athletic Conference game at Rolly Williams Court Saturday.

NIC made 29 of 37 (78.4 percent) free throws in the game.

Hannah Love scored 13 points and Katie Buskey followed with 11 for NIC (21-1, 6-1 SWAC), which hosts Snow on Thursday.

NIC went up 17-9 with a three point play by Love with 12:13 on the game clock in the first half.

I never look ahead very far,” said NIC head coach Chris Carlson. “Snow is coming in on Thursday, and that’s the one game we are going to focus on. We are going to play like it’s the most important game of the year.”

The second half of the game remained consistent as Renae Mokrzycki hit two free throws with 6:43 on the game clock to put NIC up 69-44.

We need to take the best options and not rush anything on offense,” Tori Davenport said. “We have to know when to push it and know when to pull the ball out and set up our offense.”

In other SWAC action on Saturday, the College of Southern Idaho (11-10, 5-2) beat Utah State-Eastern (5-14, 2-5) 97-69 in Twin Falls and Salt Lake (13-6, 4-2) beat Snow (8-12, 2-4) 55-43 in Ephraim, Utah.
