NIC men’s basketball wins on sophomore night

North Idaho College men’s basketball beat Colorado Northwestern Community College 88-60 Feb. 9 at NIC on sophomore night.

Mikey Hope scored three consecutive 3-pointers and one to end the first half at the buzzer to make the score 42-25. Hope finished with 26 points and six rebounds.

“Mikey’s performance is great,” said NIC head coach Jared Phay. “He’s the kind of guy who shoots a lot on his own, and he works for it. So he deserved it.”

Jalil Abdul-Bassit scored 15 points while Keon Lewis finished with 12 points.

“We finished out the home stretch with seven straight wins,” Phay said. “We did what we needed to do, and we had an overall better defense than we had on Thursday night.”
