NIC softball beats Snow in final game of series

The North Idaho College softball team avenged one of their two losses to Snow College Friday with a 7-2 win Saturday at Memorial Field in Coeur d’Alene. The two teams were unable to play the second game due to the weather.

NIC center fielder Amber Meyers hit a two-run single to take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning.

The Cardinals’ offense came alive in the fourth inning, scoring five runs.

Heather Bishop began the offensive surge with an infield RBI single to score Tori Schuler.

Kylene Hatton hit a RBI single up the middle and then Shelby Carter stepped in and belted a three-run home run over the left-field fence to take a 7-1 advantage.

The home run was Carter’s second of the weekend off Katie Greenberg, who had given up two home runs the entire season prior to Carter’s pair.

NIC (16-27, 10-22 conference) will play its final home games of the season against Scenic West Athletic Conference rival Western Nevada College Friday and Saturday in doubleheaders at Memorial Field.
