NIC Men’s Basketball Gearing Up For a Strong Finish

NIC Men’s basketball starts off the spring semester with five straight home games. The Cardinals started off the new semester winning three of five at home before entering the final stretch of the season.

The Cardinals only have five games remaining on the schedule and are currently in third place in the conference. Head coach Corey Symons was all but worried about his team.

“I’m happy with our guys, were playing hard and were playing well together,” Symons said.

NIC will play three of their remaining five games on the road, starting off at their rivals College of Southern Idaho. They will conclude their season with a matchup versus their tough divisional opponent Salt Lake Community College.

Coach Symons had a very optimistic mindset heading into the final leg of the regular season.

“I’m happy right where we are,” Symons said. “We need to go out and get three or four of these next five and we will be right in that second or third seed going into the regional tournament, which is where we want to be.”

The Cardinals have been a good road team this year and have gone 10-4 in games away from Christianson Gymnasium. The schedule plays right into their favor with three road games to go.

They finish the season off with five tough conference games, heading into the regional tournament. Only time will tell the fate of the NIC men’s basketball team.
