Volleyball comes up short at home

The sets were back and forth on Tuesday night between NIC and Whitworth College, ultimately resulting in a match loss for NIC volleyball’s home opener.

“We were up and down,” said coach Kelsey Stanley. “I’m not going to say we did bad, but I’m not going to say we did good either.”

That is not to say that the Lady Cards didn’t put on an exciting match though. The games were close ones, all within three points, not counting NIC’s overwhelming game two victory of 25-14.

There were moments where the girls seemed to shine, and others when a lack of focus and communication between the team seemed to take effect.

“The mids did really well,” said coach Stanley. “But we need to work as hard as we can on every single play.”

Though it was a loss for the home opener game, the team is still in the preseason, and has time to work out some kinks before they head into the regular season.

“We had a good growd,” said coach Stanley. “I wish we could’ve ended with a win.”

The game five final score ended with a 12-15 loss for the Cardinals.

The team was following some impressive play while in Lewiston the previous weekend, going undefeated against several regional teams.

NIC volleyball will be traveling to Salt Lake City this weekend for the Crystal Inn-vitational.
