No Clear or Present Danger for Ladycards

The Lady Cardinals were never in any clear danger against the Colorado Northwestern Spartans as the NIC women took the win over Colorado with a final of 86 to 56.

The Cardinals outscored the Spartans in the first few periods with the third period resulting in an especially impressive performance from the ladies both offensively and defensively. The Cardinals put up 20 points in the third and only allowed 2 points, which Colorado managed to sneak in in the closing minutes of the period.

The Spartans began to sneak up on the Cardinals in the fourth period, but the Cardinals had secured a comfortable 34-point lead to provide safety against the momentum gained by Colorado.

The three point game was on key as 7 shots were made by five team members. NIC’s Maci Benedict was three for six from beyond the three-point line and 12 for six in shots taken. She led the team in points, with 16 overall.

The victory against Colorado brought the ladies to a 16-4 overall record with a 4-3 conference record. Right now North Idaho College is in fourth place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference and 25th in the nation. Their next game will be against fifth place Eastern Utah this Saturday in the Christianson Gymnasium.
