A Colorful Competition

An evening filled with chalk art, music, and friendly competition among friends brought students together on Wednesday night.

Second year Resident Assistant, Sarai Yates, put on an event based off the learning aspects of creativity and expression for the Residence Hall on August 30, 2017.

“The idea of programming is to network,” Yates said. “It’s an outlet for healthy relationships and a time to give students something to do.”

For the chalk art competition, each participant was given a square freely express themselves. After two hours of drawing, a judge awarded gift card prizes and movie tickets to five winners.

In first place, Sarah Beltz won a 30 dollar Amazon gift card with the drawing of a pug.

Second place was won by Devon Stapleton with her chalk drawing of hot air balloons, Zhu Parker took third with her rendition of Van Gogh’s Starry Night, fourth place was awarded to Ellory Ferris and Brooklyn Rankin with their beach paradise drawing, and Honorable Mention was given to MJ Vidad and Angelo Molina with their drawing of a North Idaho College compass.
