Full Moon bike ride deemed success

On Monday night, members of the community gathered in the parking lot of Slate Creek Brewery to enjoy a range of festivities and services provided by various local businesses before setting off on this month’s Full Moon bike ride.

The pre-ride festivities began at 6 p.m. and consisted of beer from Slate Creek, free bike maintenance provided by the Trek Bicycling Store, gourmet toast from MAK Bread, and a raffle for a free beer keg from Local Real Estate- ID.

A street performer at the event played classic tunes on his harmonica while he rode around on a unicycle, and juggled bowling pins, knives, and even flaming balls

The fun wasn’t limited to those over 21 though; plenty of young adults and children enjoyed the live music, corn-hole and a performance from a unicycling juggler that played Beatles songs on the harmonica.

Tons of people of all ages showed up, especially compared to the Full Moon bike ride event which took place last month on a cold and rainy evening.

“There were so many people here and everyone seemed to be having a great time, I could barely hear the music it was so loud!” Ariel Olsen, a new employee at State Creek Brewery said about Monday night’s event turnout.

At 8 p.m. the bikers were set loose. The ride had two stops: at Strada Coffee and the Post Ride Bar, and after some participants stopped back at Slate Creek for one last drink before calling it a night.

A local musical duo performed music by the Eagles, the Fugees, and several pop artists in the Slate Creek Brewery parking lot

Krystle Toman from MAK Bread said that this was her and her husband’s first time helping out at the Full Moon bike ride. Toman said they were both very pleased with the turnout and had a great time sharing their tasty toast with everyone who came.

“We had heard so much about this and we’re so excited to be a part of it, I would absolutely want to come back and get to do this again,” Toman said.

The Full Moon bike ride happens every full moon and is primarily put together by State Creek, with the help of local groups and businesses to round out the experience and make it enjoyable for everyone who chooses to participate.
