“Saints, Savages, and Sales”

One regional artist shared his art with North Idaho College in the Boswell Hall Corner Gallery.

Tony Dattilo, a Washington-based artist, brought his exhibit “Saints, Savages, and Sales” to display the different processes of art such as carving, sculpting, and painting. Dattilo’s retrospective display focused on three separate shows with three different perspectives dealing with cultural identity.

Dattilo wanted to emphasize the essence of creating a studio practice, but how it should not be the artist’s focus. The purpose of Dattilo’s gallery was to share his art that satisfied his needs with others.

“Work needs to be intimate, not for galleries,” Dattilo said. “A studio needs to be used as an artist’s retreat.”
