Cardinals spend weekend sweeping Snow off the field

NIC Softball on 10-game winning streak after losing eight of 12 against SWAC opponents to open season

The season turned for the softball team over the weekend despite continued freezing temperatures and ice on Memorial Field. The Cardinals swept Snow College in four games, adding to four blowout wins over Colorado Northwestern the previous week. Fresh powder on a sodden field forced a move to Moses Lake for three games Friday and a shift to Lake City for Saturday's game.

More than 400 people packed into Post Falls High School's gymnasium for an All-Star game among Lake City, Coeur d'Alene, Lakeland and Post Falls high schools. NIC's basketball team was called out to make the game and dunk contest a bit more interesting.

The men's and women's golf teams traveled to Lewiston March 17 to 18 to play in the Lewis and Clark State College Invitational at the Clarkston Country Club. Coach Randy Boswell said his teams struggled because of their practicing options due to the snow in the area.

In the beginning, God did not create basketball. The beginning must have been great! At what point in history was the lack of a boring, poorly-assembled, wanna-be sport a problem? I suppose it was invented to give prisoners something to do other than stab each other.

Swishhh. The March Madness theme song. Take your pick, the soft woosh on hardwood or the metallic jingle on cracked pavement. The sound of a perfect, high arcing three-pointer is my equivalent of the feelings composers must reserve for the opening notes of Bach or Mozart.
