False alarm brings fire department to campus

The facility operations department tripped a fire alarm in the Hedlund building during a state building inspection, causing emergency personnel to hurry onto campus.

“I was in class, and I wasn’t sure what we were supposed to do, it was kind of confusing,” said Angel Gable, a 37 year old GED student from Coeur d’Alene.

Part of the state’s inspection involves pulling certain wires for the building’s smoke alarms to test elevator’s response.

When the test was finished, the alarms were reset, causing one located on the first floor to sound off.

The alarms were quickly turned off, but a fire truck had already reached campus.
