ICC Clubs Handbook Revision

ASNIC and ICC have formed a 10-person committee to review and revise the clubs handbook.

The handbook documents several aspects of the Inter-Club Council (ICC), such as requirements for starting new clubs, acquiring space for events and obtaining club funding.

Because the handbook has not been changed to reflect evolving ICC procedures, many details are obsolete.

Geoff Carr, advisor of the Publications Club, is responsible for revising the handbook’s literature. He said the current handbook is confusing and outdated.

“As I went through the clubs handbook, not only did I realize it was poorly written, but that a lot of the material was obsolete,” Carr said. “ICC was not operating the way the handbook said it was.”

Presently the review committee is focused on streamlining the process and requirements of forming new clubs.

“We have currently been reviewing the club process, and just trying to make it easier for students to start clubs and get involved in clubs on campus,” ASNIC Vice President Joshua Brands said.

The committee is also looking at lowering the amount of students required to form a club. Currently eight full-time students are required to form a new club.

Club advisers and students make up the 10-person committee.

The clubs handbook provided on the ASNIC page on the NIC website is currently the outdated version. ASNIC intends to replace it with the updated version in time for the fall semester.
