Keon Lewis had 19 points, five assists and three steals to lead the 14th-ranked Cardinals past the Colorado Northwestern Community College Spartans 104-46 in a Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) game at Rolly Williams Court Saturday.
One minute and 47 seconds into the game Jalil Abdul-Bassit stole the basketball and dunked it to put NIC up 7-0. The rest of the game went very much the same way. The Cardinals were up 58-21 at halftime.
Mikey Hope scored 17 points and Nathan Rathbun had 11 points and five blocked shots off the bench for NIC (19-3, 6-1 SWAC), which hosts Snow on Thursday.
“We can’t overlook Snow on Thursday,” said head coach Jared Phay. “We have to take care of business against Snow and hopefully set up a showdown against Salt Lake on Saturday.”
Rathbun had a severe ankle sprain earlier this season, but he has now fully recovered Phay said.
In other SWAC action, Southern Idaho (15-6, 3-4) defeated Utah State-Eastern (11-10, 2-5) 103-39 in Twin Falls and Salt Lake (18-2, 6-0) remained atop the league with a 67-66 win against Snow (15-5, 3-3) in Ephraim, Utah.
