NIC welcomes students at the Day of Welcome event

Hundreds of students flooded into the Student Union Building Tuesday afternoon as they had the opportunity to learn more about the college and take advantage of the free gifts offered at each table during NIC’s annual Day of Welcome event.

Ring toss.  Tic-Tac-Toe.  Create a headline.  Prize wheels. All these games and more were set up on each of the tables in an effort to promote a little fun while informing the students of all NIC, other local colleges and local businesses have to offer.  Of course, many students enjoyed all the free swag including NIC T-shirts and food.

“There’s so much to look at and do,” said Jessie Anderson, a NIC student. “So many free gifts and raffles and a lot of games.” 

This event helped students find out what resources available to them.  Some of the tables included information about Lewis-Clark State College, the Molstead Library, the Computer Science and Technology Club and Career Services.  

Kynzey Mitzel, Abbey Rode, Eryn Pierce, Tatum Bryan, Sam St. Mars, Nicholas Espinoza and Paul Mclead hand out the awesome new NIC T-shirts.

“I think this event is really beneficial for students because they get to understand what all their resources are and student activities as well as a lot of the next step programs we offer here in Coeur d’Alene,” said Stephanie Vickhamner, Lewis-Clark State College advocate. 

“Students always run into issues during their college time,” said her colleague Justene Garner. “It’s really important that they are aware of their resources that are available to them ahead of time versus ending up in a crisis and then not knowing what resources they have available.”
